Ireland Atlantic Coast

We parked at the Connemara Visitor Centre and had a look around before our planned walk. Top left is a pine tree taken from the bog that has been dated at 8600 years old. Before the bog continued to encroach on this area it was covered in pine trees. Bottom left is more examples of bog wood dated at 4500 years old. Right shows the typical tools used to cut into a turf bank to get the peat in the basket which is all important for the fires for cooking and warmth.
